Wine Proxy

Proxy wines are not dealcoholized wines – and don't intend to be wines.
They are independent compositions, perhaps inspired by wine, but reimagined. Composition instead of withdrawal.

Blends of tea infusions, juices, fruit extracts, herbs, spices, and fermented elements form the basis. The result: a beverage reminiscent of wine in structure, depth, and aroma – usually entirely without grapes. Acidity, texture, tannins, and length are key. The best proxy wines can do what great wines can: complement food, unlock aromas, stimulate – and tell their own unique story.

A category for the curious. And for everyone who chooses alcohol-free – and expects character, complexity and enjoyment.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

As a little teaser: Arensbak's Sparkling Rosé was the eye-opening moment that opened the doors to the no/low world for me. I'd already been exploring the topic for a while at that point, but I hadn't quite found my way in. And then, suddenly, it was easy. I found the complexity, the mouthfeel, the drinkability, the dry acidity, and the fruit. It's reminiscent of the best natural wines, friendly and playful, with a wink. A drink that doesn't take itself too seriously. I don't really want to go into detail about the ingredients, as they're so seamlessly integrated into the overall picture and don't come across as embarrassingly simplistic. So, there's red fruit somewhere, and something spicy, but that's about it for the analysis. Just let yourself go and be amazed at how far this creative scene has come.
