Alcohol-free spirits, as we understand them, are not diluted distillates or products that have been dealcoholized after the fact. They are created through craftsmanship, not by removing or simply replacing ingredients.

Their depth comes from maceration, distillation, and – depending on the recipe – also fermentation. Botanicals, woods, and spices are extracted, distilled, or smoked in several steps until structure and tension are present in the glass: bitterness, acidity, warmth, and length.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

Nigredo holds the position of digestif among Opius spirits. It's incredible how complex this drink is. You want to savor it for a long time, exploring the roasted coffee notes, the French oak, the molasses. Sweetness and acidity are beautifully balanced, allowing the aromas to linger on the palate for minutes. We enjoy drinking it neat, preferably slightly chilled, in a tasting glass – or as an Espresso Martini with salted caramel, or as a Dark 'n' Stormy with ginger beer.
